**Shah Alam, 29 May 2025** – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), through the Malaysian Academy of SME & Entrepreneurship Development (MASMED), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bateriku (M) Sdn. Bhd., marking the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on enhancing entrepreneurship, skills development, and real-world industry exposure for students. ## UiTM MASMED and Bateriku.com Sign Strategic MoU to Empower Future Entrepreneurs and Drive Innovation Held at UiTM Shah Alam, the MoU signing ceremony was officiated by senior leadership from both institutions. Representing UiTM were key figures including YBrs. Prof. TPr. Dr. Jamalunlaili Abdullah - Vice Chancellor of Industry, Community and Alumni Network (ICAN), UiTM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Badrul Isa - Assistant Vice Chancellor of MASMED, UiTM and Azarol Faizi, Chief Executive Officer of Bateriku. > “Today’s signing is not just about formalising a partnership. This represents a strategic alignment between UiTM and Bateriku to empower our youth, develop talent, and prepare future entrepreneurs for a fast-moving digital economy,” said Azarol Faizi, CEO of Bateriku. ### Building Pathways from Campus to Real-World Innovation The MoU outlines key areas of collaboration, including: * Student exposure to real-world entrepreneurship and digital business models * Internship and training opportunities within Bateriku’s on-demand mobility ecosystem * Collaborative development of industry-relevant modules and certifications * Joint research in areas like EV, data, engineering, and marketing This partnership aims to integrate classroom learning with hands-on, tech-driven entrepreneurship. Giving students and lecturer access to Bateriku’s expanding network of 220 Pitstops, 1,500 BHeroes (gig technicians), and 78 BPreneurs (entrepreneur partners) across Malaysia and even in Jakarta, Indonesia. Bateriku’s ability to build a tech-driven, innovation-led gig economy ecosystem has attracted prominent investors such as Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP), Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), VentureTech (an investment firm under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation), Gobi Partners (a key investor in Carsome), and SBI of Japan. In addition, Bateriku’s business model places strong emphasis on human capital development, ensuring the professionalism and technical skills of its BHero gig technicians. Through Akademi Bateriku, the company trains its internal teams, BPreneur entrepreneurs, and mobile technicians. At the same time collaborating with government agencies such as MARA and PUNB, especially in the certification of EV and hybrid vehicle mechanics. “We believe that those who master technology and AI today will lead the future of every industry. This is why we are investing in talent and innovation to stay ahead,” Azarol added. This collaboration also reflects a shared commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values, in line with UiTM’s pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Both parties aim to promote responsible business practices, and inclusive economic growth. Bateriku’s focus on digital mobility, EV and hybrid vehicle expertise, and gig-based entrepreneurship not only reduces carbon emissions but also creates sustainable income opportunities. This synergy supports UiTM’s efforts in producing socially responsible graduates who are equipped to lead in a greener and more equitable economy. ### Q\&A Session with Media **Q: What are the key factors behind UiTM's decision to collaborate with Bateriku?** > “As mentioned by the Bateriku CEO, their business model is very promising. In just over a decade, they’ve built a strong, scalable ecosystem. We want our students and lecturers to learn from that journey. Beyond entrepreneurship, we also aim to explore future collaborations in engineering, data, and marketing,” said Prof. TPr. Dr. Jamalunlaili Abdullah. **Q: What is UiTM’s current graduate employability rate?** > “As of 2024, our graduate employability rate stands at 92%, with UiTM producing around 60,000 graduates annually. To further boost employability, we welcome industry collaborations like today’s MoU. Which can help transform graduates into entrepreneurs,” said Prof. TPr. Dr. Jamalunlaili Abdullah. **Q: What does Bateriku hope to achieve over this three-year MoU period?** > “Our focus is on human capital development.
